| UNICEF has been successful worldwide at promoting the health benefits of iodized salt. We traveled to Manombo Atsimo on the Mozambique Channel to watch a small salt manufacturer add iodine. The salt is collected by hand from large evaporation fields near the ocean. It is gathered and piled, then shoveled into 50 lb bags through an iodizing/bagging machine provided at cost by UNICEF . |
